Northallerton Auto Club unveils Rally Guide for new Yorkshire Dales Rally

Northallerton Auto Club has released the official Rally Guide for the inaugural Swift Signs & Shirts Yorkshire Dales Rally, confirming key details ahead of the event’s debut on Sunday 29 March 2026.

The publication marks an important milestone for a project that has been many months in development and has already gained considerable interest across the motorsport community.

The new event will bring closed-road rallying to some of the Yorkshire Dales’ most distinctive landscapes, with the 2026 edition featuring eight special stages arranged across two competitive loops. In total, crews will tackle around 48 miles of timed driving on roads chosen for both their character and their challenge, weaving through Wensleydale and Swaledale. Rally HQ and the main service area will be located at Tennants Auction House in Leyburn, which will act as the operational centre for teams, volunteers and officials across the weekend.

The Rally Guide provides the first full public look at how the inaugural event will run. It confirms the weekend timetable, including reconnaissance on Saturday 28 March, and sets out the practical arrangements competitors need to follow before and during the rally. Clear guidance is also provided for marshals and support crews, alongside information about local services, traffic considerations and the facilities available in Leyburn. Designated spectator areas will be in place on each stage, with ticketing information due to be published early in the new year.

The Yorkshire Dales Rally has been developed by a volunteer organising team with deep roots in the region’s motorsport scene. Inspired by the success of historic events such as the Three Rivers Road Rally, the team set out to create a modern closed-road rally that reflects the scenery, spirit and community of the Dales. Throughout the planning process they have benefited from strong cooperation from residents, landowners, parish councils and local businesses, whose support has been crucial in securing permissions and shaping the direction of the event.

Title sponsor Swift Signs & Shirts has played a major part in helping the rally reach this stage. Building on many years of involvement in regional rallying, the company’s backing has provided confidence and stability as the organising team established the foundations of this new event. Their commitment has been matched by the enthusiasm of local supporters, who recognise the benefits that motorsport can bring to towns and villages outside the main tourist season.

With entries opening on 9 January 2026, the momentum behind the inaugural Swift Signs & Shirts Yorkshire Dales Rally continues to build. The publication of the Rally Guide signals the start of the final phase of preparations as Northallerton Auto Club works towards delivering a safe, welcoming and memorable debut rally this March.

Further updates, including spectator arrangements and marshal registration, will follow in the coming weeks on the website at Yorkshire Dales Rally
